Managing ThinkBios

Managing ThinkBios

This feature enables Org and MSP Admins to remotely change the BIOS password and manage BIOS settings through Lenovo Device Manager (LDM).

To access a device’s BIOS settings:
  1. Go to the Devices menu in the left panel.
  2. Select a device to open the device tray.
  3. Open the BIOS tab.
The BIOS tab is divided into four sections:

1. Modification Dates and Password
The following dates are updated each time the Org or MSP Admin introduces changes in the BIOS:
  1. Date Last Modified: The date when BIOS settings were last updated in the system and sent to the device. This reflects the most recent changes made by an Org or MSP Admin.
  2. Date Last Confirmed: The date when the device confirmed to the Org or MSP Admin that the settings were successfully applied. It indicates that the change was received and implemented on the device.
Supervisor Password: If a supervisor password is already set, you must enter it before making any changes to the BIOS settings.

2. Toggle Settings
This section contains BIOS settings that can be enabled or disabled using toggle switches. These allow quick adjustments to common configuration options.

3. Dropdown Settings
Use this section to configure multiple BIOS options using dropdown menus. Each menu contains predefined choices, depending on the setting.

4. Boot Order
In this section, you can define the sequence of storage devices used during boot. Adjust the order based on your desired boot priority by dragging and dropping the Option to and from the Boot Order.

To apply changes:
After configuring the settings, click Apply, then Proceed to confirm and deploy the changes. Most changes will require the device to reboot. If Reboot Now is selected, the device will immediately restart and may impact the end user. If it is not selected, changes will be applied the next time the end user restarts the device.

Notes
  1. BIOS setup is supported only on ThinkPad, ThinkStation, and ThinkCentre devices.
  2. The device must be licensed.
  3. Available settings and their labels may vary depending on the device model.

Resetting to BIOS Defaults
To reset the BIOS to factory defaults, click Reset to BIOS default.
